Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location was excellent. Close to Seminyak Square and Eat Street for shopping and dining options. Walking distance to Seminyak beach.

Negative: The address of the villa was incorrect on the booking site when confirmed. This caused enormous stress trying to locate the villa’s correct address on arrival. We were left stranded by our driver who dropped us at the location specified through the booking site. Eventually we were able to contact the Villa Manager who proceeded to inform us that the villa was in a completely different area of Seminyak. Not acceptable at this price. The front door did not lock when we arrived which exposed our personal security and that of our belongings. We had to call Maintenance in to replace the front door lock. The water filter machine was broken and it took five days to have it replaced resulting in having to purchase water to drink, cook, clean for the first week of our stay. The infrared sauna was broken and could not be used at all throughout our stay. Unacceptable given this was a feature of why we chose the villa in the first place. Daily housekeeping was unsatisfactory given the cost of the villa. Often towels and toilet paper were not replaced when requested to do so. The team needed daily reminders to turn up to clean the villa and the pool and often forgot basic items like towels and toilet paper. We found old, mouldy takeaway from a previous client that had been left in the bar fridge in the upstairs bathroom. The air conditioning could not be adjusted due to faulty remote controls which became problematic as we became accustomed to the weather. There was no gas in the kitchen when we arrived so any cooking was impossible as the stove and the oven did not work. They had to be called to replace the gas cylinder. A major issue was that the showers in the bathrooms on the first floor and second floor could not be used as they stank of sewerage when we turned on the water. The stench was so bad it made us feel sick and was clearly a health risk. This major issue was not rectified at all throughout our two week stay despite requests to do so.

Summary: A most disappointing stay in a ‘tired’ villa that did not fulfil the standard or the facilities advertised
