Take a seat beneath the spruce trees, perhaps with a local bald eagle, soaking in passing sailboats in the sea beyond. At sunset, west facing views cast golden light across the quaint village harbor. On the "Quiet Side" of MDI this cottage is an ideal base to explore Acadia...if you can peel away.
Perched on a rocky cliff, less than 45ft from the oceans edge, overlooking the lucrative lobstering village of Bass Harbor. Lobster boats abound, this is the full Maine experience. Smell the salty sea and view the wildlife from inside or out, with over 180 degree expansive harbor and ocean views. Go to sleep with the soothing sounds of the sea and wake up to boat action right outside your door. Follow the stone foot path down below and explore the 175ft private rocky beach while searching for sea treasure and soaking in beautiful pink and purple sunsets.
Located directly on the waterfront overlooking Bass Harbor, an iconic Maine lobstering village. Our non-conforming, "grandfathered" cottage cannot get any closer to the water, you feel as though you are on a boat. The cottage sits at the tip of a residential peninsula, perched cliff-side with unobstructed views of the sea, harbor and mountains of Acadia National Park. We have 175ft of privately owned coastline beach that you can access and use as a kayak launching point. You have expansive views of the working harbor and get a front row seat to the best lobster boat action in Maine. Views are enjoyed from both inside and outside the cottage. Front views feature lobster boats going in and out to sea, as well as coming into the harbor and sorting their daily catch. Views to the right are of serene post-card-perfect boats bobbing in the harbor. Far right views feature some of the tallest peaks in Acadia. Distant front views showcase the expansive ocean with sailboats and yachts gliding by. We are walking distance to Island Boat Tours offering a variety of sea excursions. The cottage sits across the harbor from legendary Thurston's Lobster Pound, it is so close you can bring your kayaks and paddle across in minutes for a lobster roll on their outside deck. We are a quick 5-minute drive to Southwest Harbor, home to some of the best dining MDI has to offer such as Hearth and Harbor and Peter Trout's. Little Fern Restaurant, Harry's Bar, Batson Fish Camp and Buttercup Bakery are also a quick drive away. Lot's of gift, wine/cheese, ice cream shops and bike rentals all minutes away. Bass Harbor is known as the "Quiet Side" for those looking to visit MDI but escape the tourist crowds of Bar Harbor, which is a 30-minute scenic drive. The neighborhood is very quiet and full of friendly locals.
We can accommodate a maximum of 2 guests. Our cottage is perfect for adult couples or solo travelers. Not suitable for children or those traveling with animals.
Cleanliness is a TOP priority to us and we hold ourselves to a VERY high standard. The bedrooms will be prepared with freshly laundered sheets and a freshly laundered duvet, we launder the duvets after EVERY GUEST.

Walking distance to Bass Harbor boat excursions and the Swan's Island ferry. Minutes to some of the best restaurants and gift shops on MDI.
We are a NO PARTY home and DO NOT ALLOW PETS, ANIMALS or additional guests beyond the 2-person limit, that we have accepted, to enter the home or stay. The cottage is meant to be used as a quiet peaceful oasis on the coast. The cottage is not recommended for children as the home is not kid-safe. All policies are firm and non-negotiable.

We take your health very seriously and have posted Maine CDC guidelines in the home to promote a clean space.
