This wonderful home is located within a completely private 4-acre city fringe oasis, only 2.5 km approximately from the city centre and in the heart of the rural playground of the Maitai valley. The garden setting is full of native trees and birds, looks directly across to the geographical Centre of New Zealand hill, and is surrounded on one side by several hundred hectares of farmland. The best swimming holes of the Maitai River are just across the road, and guests will have the choice of an infinite number of walking and mountain biking tracks within every direction from the home.
The warm and cosy Lockwood home boats generous portions with four bedrooms, two lounges, tasteful modern decor, stunning photographs and art, warm wooden walls, and stunning, private views from all windows. Central heating was installed throughout the house in 2019, along with a new wood burning stove in 2020, ensuring the cosiest of winters. A heat pump / AC unit in the main lounge allows for cooling down in the summer, and three opening-louvre skylights in lounge and kitchen allow extra air flow on those famous Nelson sunny summer days. Groups and families will enjoy the seamless indoor outdoor flow from the master suite, the main lounge/ dining area, and and the separate, media / office room. The covered veranda and BBQ area blend effortlessly into the grassy lawns and orchards extending from the house, and a wee walk around the back of the property takes you to an enchanted woodland, or above the house to enjoy staggering city, hill and mountain views.
This property will be ideal for groups, couples or families. Those particularly keen on taking advantage of the hiking, running and mountain biking tracks will be right in the heart of it all in this location, and will be spoiled for choice of swimming holes to cool off in after outdoor adventures. Families with kids of all ages are well-catered for, with a separate toy nook off the main lounge, separate movie room, trampoline, play fort with swings and a slide, and more than four acres of native trees and gardens amongst which to adventure. Couples will enjoy the modern home with plush bathtub and private surrounds.
