Please remember you are staying at a house in a small, local community. We are much different than a hotel and do our best to respect our neighbors, we ask that all our guets do the same. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on-site 24/7. We are a very small, family run business.

We do not have direct access to the lake via the house but guests may walk or drive to the shore - guests may use the boat launch but may not leave cars or personal belongings at the launch.
Windswept Cottage (original home built in 1920) is a quaint 3-bedroom lake house located in a small community on North Sandy Pond, a large bay off Lake Ontario. Our quiet street is often the perfect place to catch the lake breeze and most definitely the sunsets at night.
Usually, the house is kept naturally cool from the elements, and we have a portable AC floor unit on the first and second floors in addition to a window unit in the kitchen for hotter summer days. There is a portable fan for any room and ceiling fan in the kitchen. Each bedroom has its own ceiling fan, and the upstairs hall has a fan to help regulate a comfortable temperature.
Guests must climb one steep flight of stairs that features a nautical oar handrail to reach the bedrooms on the second floor. The handrail must be used at all times. Children cannot be unattended, and our home is not recommended for those who have difficulty with stairs.
All of our bedrooms feature side tables, plenty of usb/outlets, a dresser, driftwood hanging clothes rail, extra pillows and blankets, and guests can choose from two queen size beds or one super cozy full size bed to sleep in.
In the morning, guests are welcome to enjoy complementary coffee or tea made in our well-stocked kitchen and saunter out to the sunroom or Adirondack chairs to start planning your day of activities or relaxation.
We have two kayaks available for guests to use during the day or spend a day exploring the many outdoor activities available in the region, looking for treasurers at local flea markets and antique stores, or stay inside playing board games, watching movies, or reading a book, curled up on the couch or sunroom daybed.
At night, our bistro lights add just the right amount of light to dine by or just enjoy the yard. The fire pit becomes the main attraction - bring your s'mores sticks and ghost stories! A charcoal grill is available for use.
Windswept Cottage is close to the world-famous Salmon River, 45 minutes to Syracuse, less than an hour to 1,000 Islands region, Bolt Castle and Canadian border, and 2 hours from Rochester.
There are fun and family friendly activities year-round to enjoy. We are less than 3 miles from The Elms golf club, there are lots of fishing areas starting with Salmon River, and many beautiful beaches 5 to 15 minutes away like Sandy Island Beach State Park and Southwick Beach State Park. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, boating, hiking, and local festivals abound.
