Very quiet and peaceful sunny loaction away from any main roads. There is a museum at the top of Denniston which shows some of the rich history of the old mines that used to operate in this beautiful part of the coast. Just a short drive to the hill top showing fantastic mountain and ocean views.
Plenty of walks near by. A good central location to many whitebait rivers and some excellent surf casting locations.
A further 10 minute drive north will take you to the township of Granity where there is a craft shop, museum, friendly local pub and a cafe in the summer months.
Karamea and the beginning of the Heaphy Track are approximately 1 1/2 hour drive north. Worth checking out if you are interested in the native flora and fauna.
